A few weeks ago I shared with you some mistakes Leaders make when asking for feedback (link).
Today, I am adding to this by sharing 3 of my favorites ways how to actually ask for it.
1️⃣ START, STOP, CONTINUE
This is helpful due to its future focus and concrete inquiry.
Example:
“What’s 1 thing I could start or stop in the next weeks?”
“What’s currently working that I should continue doing?”
2️⃣ DO MORE, DO LESS
This is an even more gentle/safer version than Start/Stop/Continue.
Example:
“What could I do even more of in the coming month to be more effective?”
“What’s one thing I could do less of to make our work together even easier?”
3️⃣ BE SUPER SPECIFIC
This is my favorite technique. If you ask about something specific, you basically give permission to them to talk to that. Combine it with 1️⃣ and 2️⃣!
Example:
“What do you think I could do more of in our bi-weekly project steering comm meeting, to get more people to contribute?”
These 3 ways above are meant to make it easier for you to get the feedback you need to make changes that matter.
Good luck!
