I caught myself this Sunday morning thinking about three new things I wanted to start. A reading habit. A weekly call I've been considering. A new content format.
Then I noticed something. My calendar already said NO before I did. There was no space. I just wasn't being honest about that.
So I sat with a tougher question: "What am I willing to stop, so this can fit?"
Not easy. But it's the only honest version of the question.
Here's what I keep coming back to: a "yes" is always a hidden "no" to something else. Time doesn't stretch. When we add, we're borrowing β usually from priorities we never consciously chose to deprioritize.
A few of mine, just from this morning:
β’ A "yes" to a new project = a "no" to depth on the current one.
β’ A "yes" to one more meeting = a "no" to focused thinking time.
β’ A "yes" to a new content format = a "no" to evenings with the kids.

Sprinkling parsley on a Snickers doesn't make it healthy. Adding a new habit to an overstuffed life doesn't make it any easier - it just dilutes what's already there.
That hit me again this morning.
So before I commit to anything new, I now run it through one filter:
"What am I saying NO to so this can happen?"
If I can't name it specifically, I haven't really decided. I've just added more parsley.
What's one yes you've been holding onto this week that's actually a hidden no - and what would saying it honestly free up?
