Here is a small AND powerful tip that improve your coaching.
Take the “I”, “my”, “me” or “mine” out of your questions!
Instead of:
“Tell me more about the confidence you want to build.”
Ask:
“What kind of confidence do you want to build?”
Instead of:
“I am curious what you mean when you say you would talk to her?”
Ask:
“What do you mean, when you say you would talk to her?”
Instead of:
“Help me understand. What is hard and difficult here for you?”
Ask:
“What is hard and difficult here for you?”
There is no need to insert yourself. You give the subtle impression that your questions serve YOU first, and not person in front of you.
Keep your questions clean! Show your pure curiosity about the other person!
