πŸ’‘ \"Lightbulb Moments\" - How to tell whether coaching actually worked

πŸ•‘ 1 min Read

We invest in coaching hoping for real change, but proving its impact later can feel unclear. Why? Because coaching's magic often happens between sessions as insights turn into action, making the results powerful but indirect.

So, how do we measure success? Instead of getting stuck trying to calculate a precise financial ROI, which is tough, focus on observable behavior change. What specific shifts in action or communication were expected? Ask those who work with the coachee – what differences do they see?

This brings us to the my latest Podcast Episode - How to tell whether coaching actually worked! Where I discussed about Return of Expectation (ROE).

Before coaching starts, clearly define with everyone involved what specific, observable behavioral changes equal success. Then, measure against those agreed-upon expectations later. Focusing on ROE provides a practical way to see the tangible value coaching delivered.

➑️Could defining the 'Return on Expectation' more clearly upfront help demonstrate coaching's value in your context?
