↗️ Let us ask better questions in 2023!

Do you struggle to find good questions to draw people out? I want to give you some ideas!

It does not have to be complex!

I observe that it’s often everyday questions that we ask in a poor way.

Here are some examples.

Instead of
β€œIs there any topic you’d like to discuss today?”
ask
β€œWhat would be valuable for you to discuss today?”

Instead of
β€œDo you need any help?”
ask
β€œWhat specific help, if any, do you need?”

Instead of
β€œAre you overwhelmed?”
ask
β€œWhat’s going on right now?”

Instead of
β€œDo you agree that we achieved our meeting outcome?”
ask
β€œHow well do you think we did in achieving our meeting outcome?”

Instead of
β€œDo you understand?”
Ask
β€œWhat’s the #1 thing you take away from our meeting?”

Instead of
β€œWhy did you do that?”
ask
β€œWhat thinking lead you to decide this way?”

I hope you found these examples useful. If you ask better questions, you will

  • find out what’s actually going on be seen in a very different light!
  • It’s one of your most powerful tools to sharpen and *keep* sharp!

Do you have one go-to question that you love keep using? Let me know in the comments!

Cheers, Maik
